How About a Fast Accelerating Car?

Check out the tZero !

Cruise around with the family in this one?

Uhh, no.

Turn heads, go from zero to 60 in about 4 seconds?

Oh Yeah !

I doubt these cars will become widely available but hopefully the company that produces them, AC Propulsion, will continue to develop better technologies and get the funding needed to produce a standard 4 passenger car that Americans will fall in love with. When that happens then we will know that we are really making progress.

A GEM of a vehicle

Well, almost.
GEM vehicles don't exactly look like mainstream vehicles so they will not advance that part of the equation. But, I do see a lot of uses for them( vehicles for business campuses, etc ).

I certainly won't be trading in my Accord for one of these anytime soon but the GEM vehicles are starting to be sold at car dealers all across the country. Every one that is sold and used helps save the country's need for oil just a tiny bit. And, they help get the word out that electric cars and trucks are an extremely viable and reliable option.

GoinGreen - This car company is on target !

Isn't it a simple concept? Make electric cars look no different than gas powered cars and people will buy them. These guys are on to something. GoinGreen

Sold in the UK, GoinGreen cars are the UK's top selling electric vehicles. And there are many innovative incentives that have been put in place there to encourage the purchase and use of electric cars:

  1. The G-Wiz can park for free on meters and pay and display bays in central London boroughs of Westminster and the City.
  2. In addition, G-Wiz owners can apply for a year long pass for any one of the nineteen MasterPark car parks in Westminster for an annual fee of just £200, or £600 for all MasterParks. This represents a saving of at least 96% off the annual season ticket price.
  3. In addition, G-Wiz owners can also park for free in any of the six municipal car parks in the Corporation of the City of London.

Want to see electric cars take off here in the US? Provide these kinds of incentives in large cities like New York or Los Angeles. Demand would rise and car makers would step up with great electric car products.

What if you owned a local courier service? Wouldn't you use an electric vehicle if you could save on parking and energy? What if there were free charging points in your city?

Here's the situation in London:

-There are 54 free charging points in MasterPark car parks in Westminster, plus free charging points in five of the six City car parks. On street charging points are being introduced on test by some London boroughs shortly.

Seems pretty simple, doesn't it? Make electric cars attractive looking, convenient to use and cheaper to use and people will flock to them.
